Privacy policy
KeyTapTest is a keyboard testing utility designed to work entirely within your browser. This page describes how the current website handles information.
Keyboard input
Keyboard events are processed locally by JavaScript to highlight physical keys, update counters, and display event details. We do not transmit your keystrokes to our servers or retain them after you leave the page. The optional report is created on your device and is downloaded only when you choose to do so.
Local preferences
If you change between light and dark mode, your browser may store that preference in local storage. This does not include any keyboard input.
Typing scores on this device
The Typing Speed Test keeps your text and temporary input counts in page memory only. It never uploads or saves your typed text, individual keystrokes, or full typing history. Personal bests are optional local score summaries containing only WPM, accuracy, text mode and selected duration, stored separately for each duration and mode. Use Reset Personal Best in the typing tool to remove these summaries. If local storage is unavailable, typing still works without saving best scores. Interrupted attempts are not saved. Copy Result copies only the score summary, never the typed passage.
Analytics, ads, and third parties
This version of KeyTapTest does not include analytics trackers, advertising scripts, or third-party login. If these services are added in the future, this policy must be updated before deployment, including relevant disclosures and consent mechanisms where required.
Technical hosting data
Like most websites, the hosting provider may handle routine connection data such as IP addresses for security, delivery, and troubleshooting. Such infrastructure logging is separate from the keyboard test itself.
Safety
Do not enter passwords or other sensitive data when testing a keyboard. Some operating-system shortcuts cannot be detected by a website.
Changes
This privacy policy may change as the website evolves. Check this page for the latest version.
